Bonsai Journey 盆栽道途 by Min Hsuan Lo

First I must say that I was intimidated by the idea of writing a review about a book that I cannot read; about 99% of the book is written in Chinese. That being said, the English that is included provided me with the essential information for each bonsai: dates of photographs and botanical name.
From what I understand from the Table of Contents, this book chronicles the progress of approximately 60 bonsai between the years of 1986 and 2006+. The transformation of some of these trees is incredible! I just love when true bonsai masters show the progress they have made over the years. It helps me understand why they make certain artistic choices and sometimes I gain knowledge of new techniques, as well.
When I first heard of the book and the price I expected a hardcover. Although its cover is soft, its large volume of vivid photos and its glossy paper make it a high quality book at a fair price.
Now maybe I am a sucker for a book full of great bonsai photographs or a sucker when it comes to supporting bonsai artists but I would have bought this book in a heartbeat!
Mr. Lo is handling the fulfillment of book orders himself, please see his ofBonsai blog for details.
Disclosure: I agreed to write this review and received the book free of charge. I will always tell you the truth about anything I review, free or not.
