Before
This plant is commonly known as the Cape Honeysuckle and is indigenous to the Eastern areas
of Southern Africa. In this area (KwaZulu-Natal) these plants flower all year round with the most
profuse flowers in summer and autumn, and will grow as a climber if support is available or as a
small bush (up to about 1,5m). This particular plant is a hybrid with yellow flowers (the original is
orange).
These plants were selected for their beautiful flowers and glossy serrated foliage. There are three
very young plants (37cm from sol to apex of group) in this nursery bag and I have the possibility
of training them as a grouping of 3 plants or selecting one plant to train as an informal upright
to best showcase the flowers. When I have removed them from the bag I will assess the styling
possibilities.
A pot will be selected at a later stage when a style has finally been decided but the pot will
definitely be glazed. The pot will be selected from Misty Moon Bonsai, Assagay, KZN, South
Africa.
