Ryuga Round Concave Cutter – Sainless Steel (RS-12)
Product Type: Bonsai Tool
Manufacturer: Ryuga Bonsai Tools
When I was asked to do a review on a new brand bonsai tool, I was very excited. New tools are always fun to compare against the tools that you might already have.
This round concave cutter (RS-12) is manufactured by Ryuga Bonsai Tools and distributed by Joshua Roth. This is the first stainless variety of bonsai tool that I have ever had the opportunity to use and inspect. My comparison tool that I have had for years is a concave cutter from Yoshiaki.
There are very few difference between the two tools. The Ryuga concave cutter is much more substantial in weight and size, meaning the thickness of the handles. This makes the Ryuga feel more stable in my hand. The main difference is in the shape of the concave cutting head. The head of the Ryuga is more rounded in shape and less pointed, beside for cutting branches, this round concave cutter is also very useful in the carving application.
This Ryuga concave cutter feels and looks like a quality tool, much more than the Yoshiaki. If Joshua Roth has picked them up I think I might too.
I am looking for ways to improve the review done here, please tell me what you want to know when reading a bonsai tool review. I am also interested in hearing how you choose a tool to buy.
