This wire cutter is from Kaneshin Cutlery, and is their largest black bonsai wire cutter.

My first impression of the tool itself was that it was very heavy for its size and it fit perfectly in my hand.

I am used to using a smaller variety of wire cutters. When I did need a larger wire cutter I had to take “bites” out of the wire with a smaller wire cutter until I got through. This Kaneshin Cutlery wire cutter is much larger than what I am used to. I don’t think that I will ever need another wire cutter.

Have you ever checked out the goods of the vendors at a bonsai convention, picking up tools pretending to use them on the “air bonsai?” Have you ever picked up a tool and it felt chintzy? Now I am no expert on wire cutters or even bonsai tools, but I like to think that I know quality when I hold it in my hands.

This wire cutter has a list price of ¥5145 or approximately $60, which might seem expensive to some, but this wire cutter is worth the money.

Disclosure: I agreed to write this review and received the wire cutter free of charge. I will always tell you the truth about anything I review, free or not.

My entire tool set is kaneshin. I find that the tool quality is better than most other brands out there. When comparing it to an expensive brand like Masakuni, I find the quality is just as high but the price point is much lower.

Wow, it looks great, wish I had one! I have the same problem, I have a small wire cutter and with thicker wires I need to cut twice to cut through
